When two people in Texas decide to get a divorce, a premarital agreement in place can make their division of assets fairly predictable. For former NFL star Deion Sanders, that means he may have to pay a large sum for a home for his ex-wife.
Sanders and his wife, Pilar, were married for 12 years and announced their impending divorce late last year. Sanders, known as “Prime Time” to many of his fans, announced the split on Facebook. According to various reports, as a stipulation of their prenuptial agreement, Sanders will be required to provide his estranged spouse with funds worth half of the value of their home. In other words, he will be paying a lot of money for her new home.
The stipulation comes with a hefty price tag. The couple had been living in a mansion in Prosper, Texas, which was recently listed at $21 million. The house is 30,000 square feet and sports 10 bedrooms, nine full bathrooms and four half-bathrooms, according to NBC Washington’s website.
The mansion also has indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor basketball court, a bowling alley, a movie theatre, a billiards room, tennis court, guest house, 10-car garage and, of course, a football field.
Pilar is apparently already looking for new housing. Since Sanders would provide her with half the value of their mansion, she is said to be looking at real estate with a price tag in the $9 million to $12 million range.
