Jermaine Jackson ordered to pay $80,000 in back child support

Jermaine Jackson says, “I’m not rich like my brother Michael was.” Even though the singer and older brother of Michael Jackson says he is broke and did not make any money in 2008, a judge has ordered the former Jackson 5 member to pay $80,000 in child support to his ex-wife Alejandra. The couple was married for 15 years and had two sons together, Jaafar and Jermajesty Jackson.

The 56-year-old singer appeared in a Los Angeles court regarding his $3,000 a month child support payments for his two children. Jermaine Jackson argued to lower the monthly child support amount explaining he did not have the proper income to warrant the amount, but the judge denied his claim. Currently, Jermaine is $100,000 behind in child support, but the judge ordered him to pay $80,000.

Jermaine Jackson’s driver’s license has already been revoked because of the length of his nonpayment. His license could be reinstated if he made a minimum payment of $5,000 on April 4. Jermaine says he cannot pay his child support payments because he does not have the money to do so. He says the monthly payments of $3,000 were based off of income made by his participation in Celebrity Big Brother UK in 2007. Jermaine supposedly made several hundred thousand dollars for his work on the show but he claims he did not make any money in 2008. Jermaine also appeared on the 2009 A&E reality series The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty.

Jermaine Jackson also argues that he should not have to pay for child support because his ex-wife has been living rent free at a Jackson family property in Encino, California for 18 years. Jermaine says she has never paid one bill and regarding the situation “Justice is not justice. It is so unfair.”
