Grandparents fight for the care of boys whose mom went missing

Two boys whose mother is missing have been in the care of their grandparents. Now the parents of the missing mother are trying to assert their grandparents' rights as they attempt to retain care over their grandsons. The father of the two boys is the subject of a child pornography and voyeurism investigation, and the boys were taken out of the father's care when the father was arrested.

The boys had been living with their father in Puyallup, Washington, but after the father was arrested on charges of voyeurism and possessing child pornography, the 4-year-old boy and 6-year-old boy were taken out of the home. The father said that he does not represent any "clear and present danger to [his] sons," and that he, "had nothing to do with any kind of illegal pornography." Prosecutors allege that for 10 years the father secretly filmed his wife and shot footage of two young neighbor girls bathing and using the bathroom.

The mother of the two boys and wife of the father has been missing since December 7, 2009. The mother disappeared on the same cold night that the father said he took his then 2-year-old and 4-year-old boys camping. Recently, law enforcement officials concluded a search for the woman's body about 30 miles from where the father said he went camping. The search lasted 12 days, but authorities did not find any human remains. Cadaver dogs alerted authorities to a shallow grave and charred wood chips were discovered. The wood chips have been sent for testing.
