Two Hollywood Couples Potentially Face Divorce and Property Division

On Behalf of | Oct 14, 2010 | Firm News

The latest string of Hollywood couples who may face divorce are Courtney Cox and David Arquette and Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman. Each of the couples face the legal issues of property division and child custody. An interesting fact to point out for both couples is that the Courtney and Christina have a higher net worth than their respective partners at issue.

One sub-issue of the property division legal issue is the question of whether a pre-nuptial agreement was agreed upon by the couples. As mentioned, Courtney has a greater net worth than David. Courtney’s networth is around $75 million. She made much of her networth from the television show Friends. Courtney made the famous figure of $1 million for each episode of Friends and also received compensation from the show’s syndication. Courtney also made $5 million for her work in Scream 2 and made $7 million from Scream 3.

In comparison, David is known to have $5 million for his work in the movie Eight Legged Freaks. Courtney and David have shared income from the sale of their beach home. The two also own a production business together called Coquette Productions. The production company produces Dirt and Cougar Town. Similar to Courtney and David, Christina Aguilera’s net worth is around $60 million. She earned much of the amount from her debut album that sold over 17 million copies around the world. Jordan’s net worth is $15 million.

California law allows a prenuptial agreement to settle all divorce matters except child custody. Both couples have publicly said that they will put the interests of children first. Courtney and David have one daughter together. Christina and Jordan have a son together. It is not clear whether either couple has a prenuptial agreement.
