Last time we talked about a child support ruling involving Jon Cryer and his former wife Sarah Trigger Cryer. Additional child custody legal news has come out of California this week as Mel Gibson and his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva have reached a child custody settlement involving their 2-year-old daughter Lucia. The settlement decision was made by a family law judge in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday.

Mel Gibson, actor and director, and his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, musician, appeared at a courtroom in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday along with their attorneys. Gibson’s and Grigorieva’s respective attorneys informed the judge that the two had reached a settlement regarding child custody and child support.

According to the approved settlement, Oksana will live in Gibson’s Sherman Oaks, California home along with the former couple’s daughter, Lucia, until Lucia turns age 18. At that point the house will be sold and the proceeds from the sale will be put into a trust for Lucia.

Gibson also agreed to pay his former girlfriend $750,000 in three payments. The first payment of $250,000 will be paid when the agreement is signed. The second installment will be paid by September 2013, and the third installment will be paid by September 2016.

According to the settlement, the former pair will share legal child custody and physical custody of Lucia.

The judge warned Gibson and Oksana that the settlement will be void should either try to make money off of their difficult relationship such as making a movie or writing a book.

Gibson and Oksana both agreed to the terms of the settlement and neither spoke to the press after the court hearing.
