Cheating, assault allegations fly in ‘Real Housewives’ divorce

The end of a marriage is rarely pleasant for spouses. Those who are on the brink of a divorce can be extremely hurt, frustrated, sad and angry at the events leading up to a split and these emotions can play a significant role in how an eventual divorce could play out.

For example, a spouse who has been cheated on could feel more justified in requesting huge amounts of alimony. If domestic violence has been a factor in a couple’s marriage, there could be a very bitter battle over issues like child custody. But no matter what events and emotions are surrounding a split, divorce can be a very complicated process with a lot at stake for any person. That is why ending a marriage can turn into a very dramatic experience.

The recent split of Mario Singer and his wife, “Real Housewives of New York City” star Ramona Singer, is just one example of how contentious a relationship can be in the time preceding a divorce.

According to reports, the reality show star and her husband were married for 27 years before they hit their breaking point. Ramona accused her husband of having an affair months before they announced a divorce, but she has also been romantically linked to at least one other person recently. There were also claims of domestic assault made before the divorce was announced, though no charges were ever filed.

There is little doubt that the pending divorce has been and could continue to be difficult on this couple, considering the turmoil they have already experienced. However, they also share a daughter whose well-being must be considered and protected as their bitter breakup plays out.

In cases like this one, it can be helpful to work with an objective party who is familiar with family law and is not motivated by the same negative emotions that spouses can be. With the help of an attorney, Texas husbands and wives can focus on coming to a fair and agreeable divorce settlement as quickly and painlessly as possible.
