For readers of our blog, they know that we are no stranger to celebrity divorce stories, and the one that may be the biggest high-asset divorce of the year is the one expected between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. And, it looks like the expected divorce is getting closer as, reportedly, Kanye West is to begin talking with divorce attorneys this week.

The current state of Kim and Kanye

According to recent reports, the efforts by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to salvage their marriage has come to an end. They have stopped marriage counseling, and transitioned to pre-divorce settlement negotiations.

Of course, if anyone has been following the pair, this is hardly surprising. In fact, as early as Jan. 5, Entertainment Tonight reported that “Kimye” had not made any headway in several months of counseling.

Amicable split

According to these same reports from Entertainment Tonight and People, the pair will attempt an amicable divorce, focusing on maintaining their business interests and keeping their children’s happiness in the forefront. They are still on good terms, and there is no bad blood between the two. Even Kim’s family is on board and are supportive, feeling like Kanye has become their brother over time.

The takeaways

For Dallas, Texas, couples, thinking about divorce, there are a few key takeaways from the potential Kimye divorce. First, there is no stigma to marital counsel, and it should be used prior to seeking divorce. After all, at one time in a couple’s lives, each was the most important person in the world to the other. Perhaps, that spark can be found again. Next, keep the best interests of the children in mind if divorce is the only path, and try to keep the split as amicable as possible. This will be much easier after counseling. And, finally, contact a divorce attorney.
